Tα νέα Microsoft Lumia 950 και 950 XL

H Microsoft, απηλλαγμένη από τους βραχνάδες του παρελθόντος, δείχνει αποφασισμένη να χτυπήσει για τα καλά την αγορά smartphones, έχοντας ως μεγάλο όπλο της το Windows 10 OS ένα λειτουργικό σύστημα που αποτελεί το ιδανικό κράμα Windows 7 + Windows 8-8.1 και είναι σχεδιασμένο εξ'ίσου για τα desktops και τα notebooks, όσο και για τα smartphones/tablets.

Το Digital Life είχε την ευκαιρία να πιάσει πρώτο στα χέρια του (μέσω του Δημήτρη Σκιάννη) τα δύο πλέον χαρακτηριστικά Windows 10 phones, τα Lumia 950 και Lumia 950 XL, στο κατάστημα του Κωτσόβολου στο The Mall Athens. Από specs, είναι σχεδόν ίδια, high-end συσκευές με κορυφαίο επεξεργαστή και ποσότητα μνήμης, διαφέρουν όμως στο μέγεθος της οθόνης τους και σε αυτό της μπαταρίας. Λογικό, άλλωστε, με το "XL" να ακολουθεί το "950", στην περίπτωση του "μεγάλου" μοντέλου.

Διαφέρουν και σε εμφάνιση, με το Lumia 950 να είναι ομολογουμένως πιό ελκυστικό, αλλά το XL να είναι πιό χρηστικό και επιβλητικό. Έμφαση έχει δοθεί στην ποιότητα απεικόνισης των sAMOLED οθονών που κυμαίνεται σε πολύ υψηλά επίπεδα, παραδοσιακά, στην κάμερα, αλλά και στην ταχύτητα και τη συνδεσιμότητα. Ειδικά με την προσθήκη του Display Dock της Microsoft, τα νέα Lumia γίνονται κυριολεκτικά υπολογιστές... "τσέπης", σε συνδυασμό με το "Continuum".

Είδαμε το live demo στα κεντρικά της Microsoft τη Δευτέρα και μείναμε έκπληκτοι με το πόσο απλή και ομαλή είναι η μετάβαση από το περιβάλλον του smartphone σε αυτό του desktop, το πως το κουμπί της "Έναρξης" ανοίγει ουσιαστικά την Homepage του Lumia με τα γνωστά σας tiles αλλά και η δυνατότητα να τρέχετε διαφορετική εφαρμογή στην οθόνη του smartphone και διαφορετική στην οθόνη που έχετε συνδέσει στο Display Dock! THE CONS

In-app purchases in Galaxy of Heroes are more expensive than an actual Xbox or PlayStation console game. Be prepared to wait for a while to get the necessary crystals to unlock more characters.

Despicable Me for Android (Review)

Put yourself in a Minion's shoes and impress your evil boss

In this Despicable Me game, your objective as a minion is to complete many tasks in order to impress your boss, evil Gru! In a Temple Run/Subway Surfers style, you need to guide the minion along the way and help him dodge the obstacles and collect the various power-ups he will come across.

The controls are no mystery: swipe up to jump, swipe down to slide and swipe left or right to turn. Also, as a novelty, you will also get to use tilt controls in several parts of the game, where things get even more challenging and you'll need to be extremely focused.

The design of the interface and the familiar scenes is outstanding; the locations are full of tricky obstacles and the game is incredibly addictive from the first minute. Whenever you die, you will obtain your villain score, the number of bananas collected and the distance run: your mission accomplishment will make the score multiplier increase, so completing the given tasks should be a priority.

Don't forget you can also customize your favorite Minion and discover new features as you keep advancing. Gameloft is the developer of Despicable Me and other popular games based on successful movies, being this one of the most entertaining.

Αποκλειστικά στο Galaxy S7 το Snapdragon 820 SoC μέχρι τον… Απρίλιο

Σύμφωνα με φήμες, το νέο Samsung Galaxy S7 θα κυκλοφορήσει σε δύο εκδόσεις, και μία από αυτές θα βασίζεται στο Snapdragon 820 SoC της Qualcomm.
Τώρα, μαθαίνουμε ότι η Samsung θα είναι και η μοναδική εταιρεία που θα χρησιμοποιήσει το high-end chip της Qualcomm, τουλάχιστον αρχικά. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, η Samsung έχει κλείσει αποκλειστική συμφωνία με την Qualcomm για να είναι η μοναδική εταιρεία που θα έχει στην αγορά smartphones το συγκεκριμένο chip, τουλάχιστον μέχρι τον Απρίλιο της νέας χρονιάς.

Αν η Samsung, παρουσιάσει το νέο Galaxy S7 όπως φημολογείται τον Φεβρουάριο στα πλαίσια της έκθεσης του συνεδρίου MWC 2016, και στην συνέχεια κυκλοφορήσει τον Μάρτιο, τότε θα έχει προβάδισμα μερικές εβδομάδες έναντι του ανταγωνισμού.

Η επόμενη ναυαρχίδα της Samsung, αναμένεται να διαθέτει ευαίσθητη στην πίεση οθόνη (όπως το 3D Touch της Apple), retina scanner, USB Type-C υποδοχή, βελτιωμένη κάμερα και επεκτάσιμο κατά πάσα πιθανότητα αποθηκευτικό χώρο (όχι όμως και στην edge έκδοση του κινητού).

Νέο σωματίδιο «βλέπουν» από το CERN

Δύο ομάδες φυσικών που εργάζονται στον Μεγάλο Επιταχυντή Αδρονίων του CERN αναφέρουν ότι «είδαν» τα ίχνη ενός νέου στοιχειώδους σωματιδίου. Πιθανόν να πρόκειται για μία βαρύτερη μορφή του μποζονίου Χιγκς, το οποίο εξηγεί γιατί τα υπόλοιπα σωματίδια έχουν μάζα. Μία άλλη εξήγηση είναι ότι πρόκειται για βαρυτόνιο, το στοιχειώδες σωματίδιο της βαρυτικής αλληλεπίδρασης, η ανακάλυψη του οποίου θα υποδείκνυε την ύπαρξη περισσότερων διαστάσεων στον χωροχρόνο.

Δεν αποκλείεται καθόλου να βρισκόμαστε στο κατώφλι μιας πραγματικής επανάστασης στην επιστήμη της Φυσικής, τη διατύπωση μιας θεωρίας που ξεπερνά το λεγόμενο Καθιερωμένο Πρότυπο, που κυριαρχεί στη Φυσική. Είναι, ωστόσο, πολύ νωρίς για ενθουσιασμούς τόσο μέσα στο CERN όσο και εκτός. Η ιστορία της Φυσικής των στοιχειωδών σωματιδίων, άλλωστε, είναι γεμάτη με στατιστικά σφάλματα και ανωμαλίες που εξαφανίστηκαν όταν συγκεντρώθηκαν περισσότερα δεδομένα. «Κανείς δεν πιστεύει ότι τα συμπεράσματα αυτά είναι οριστικά», εξηγεί ο Κάιλ Κράμερ, φυσικός του Πανεπιστημίου της Νέας Υόρκης, που συνεργάζεται με μία από τις ομάδες στο CERN, γνωστή ως Atlas. Από τον Ιούνιο, έπειτα από δύο χρόνια διακοπής της λειτουργίας του, o Mεγάλος Επιταχυντής Αδρονίων του CERN λειτουργεί με διπλάσια περίπου ενέργεια από αυτή που είχε κατά τον εντοπισμό του μποζονίου Χιγκς.

Ωστόσο, έκτοτε το βασικό νέο είναι ότι δεν υπάρχει τίποτα νεότερο, μόνο κάποια ίχνη, κάποιες χαρακτηριστικές διακυμάνσεις στα δεδομένα που θα μπορούσαν να υποδεικνύουν την ύπαρξη νέων σωματιδίων, ή ακόμα να οφείλονται σε απλά στατιστικά σφάλματα. Το πιο ενδιαφέρον αποτέλεσμα μέχρι στιγμής είναι είναι ένα πλεόνασμα των ζευγών ακτίνων γ που αντιστοιχεί σε ενέργεια 750 δισεκατομμυρίων ηλεκτρονιοβόλτ. Αυτές οι ακτίνες γ θα μπορούσαν να έχουν παραχθεί από τη ραδιενεργή αποσύνθεση κάποιου νέου σωματιδίου, ίσως ενός «εξαδέλφου» του μποζονίου Χιγκς. Θα μπορούσε, επίσης, να υποδεικνύει την ύπαρξη ενός άλλου σωματιδίου με πολύ μεγαλύτερη μάζα από το οποίο δεν έχουν μείνει παρά μερικά φωτόνια. Κανείς δεν γνωρίζει ποια είναι η αλήθεια, και ακριβώς αυτό είναι που γοητεύει τους επιστήμονες.
